A 22-year-old man was shot and killed Tuesday in the Albany Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side, about a block from Theodore Roosevelt High School.
Police hung red tape around the sidewalk where his body was found, face down, on a sidewalk next to a three-story red brick residential building.
The man, known to police as a gang member, was shot just before 11 p.m. The shooting appears to have been a drive-by, Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.
The man is known to police as a gang member, but it wasn't immediately clear what role that may have played in his death.
Police blocked off Sunnyside Avenue between Bernard Street and St. Louis Avenue. Neighbors in the area gathered on either side of the crime scene.
