A man was taken to the hospital and seven people were displaced in a South Side fire that broke out early this morning in a two-story building in the South Shore neighborhood on the South Side.


Firefighters responded shortly before 5 a.m. to the building, which is in the 2700 block of East 75th Place.


First responders transported a man to Jackson Park Hospital after he experienced difficulty breathing due to the fire, Chicago Fire Department spokeswoman Meg Ahlheim said.





No other injuries were reported.


Firefighters struck out the blaze at 6:38 a.m., according to the Fire Department.
